Engaging stories with complex characters and interesting twists.  The best collection I have read in some time.

There are some stories that I really enjoyed. The story about the children who were waiting on their mother during a war like situation reminded me of Palestinians today and it was emotional for me to read. The story about about ghost ships felt like a story about determination. The story about the girl who wanted to be more and watching her mom have kid after kid triggered me. I remember being anger on the expectation on older siblings to raise younger children. The story about lost of time and eluding to mental health concerns broke my heart.

I love Tananarive Due's story telling and her writing. I had to keep reminding myself this was a short story collection because I wanted more from each story. Due is amazing at writing stories that not only give haunting supernatural horror, but also haunting realistic horror.

My favorite section was The Gracetown Stories with The Wishing Pool stories being my second favorite. Yes, there were some stories I didn't particularly love, but I still enjoyed my time reading Tananarive Due's writings. That's why I'm giving the book as a whole4 stars.

I definitely recommend this if you love short creepy stories. I have a feeling that Tananarive Due is going to become a favorite author.
