I bought this book thinking it was going to be another fun contemporary romance, perfect for reading while in the obx (where i am on vacay) because the book is set there. turns out this book felt incomplete, rushed, and it was not at all what I thought it was going to be - the connection between the two main characters was so rushed it felt fake and the third person view didnt help at all with this - the journal entries made NO SENSE whatsoever and at some points it felt like random characters were just appearing out of nowhere - overall this book was just overly complicated for no reason and wasn’t as good as i thought it was going to be - 2/5⭐️ for me :)
I wish the affair plotline and the box and diary would have been left out entirely. They just added drama that just made the book drag for me.
Slow Start - Good Ending
I wasn't sure about this one at first. None of the characters really grabbed me. At about the half way mark some tension was introduced and it really picked up. If you have the patience to stick with it, it's a decent summer read.

It took me a little bit to settle into this book, but it was a really quick read once I got into it. I love books with girlfriends who are there for each other and that’s exactly how this book starts out. Callie and her girlfriend Olivia are renovating a beach house into a B&B. Neither is looking for love or the complications that it tends to bring, but of course that’s exactly when Callie runs into billionaire Luke Sullivan. I really enjoyed the scenes with Callie and Luke. They were both a bit hesitant and wanted to trust each other before completely falling head first in love.
I won’t give the plot away, but this was a great story filled with the sweetness of new love, overcoming misconceptions, family dynamics and a bit of mystery thrown in as well. The perfect combination for a spring/summer read! **Complimentary book provided by Forever in exchange for my honest review**

↓ About the book
Callie and her best friend Olivia finally took the plunge and bought the beach house of their dreams with the hopes to open up a bed and breakfast in North Carolina. Callie quit her job to invest all of her time in preparing the house for their first guests and she is too busy to think about her love life.
Enter Luke Sullivan. The young, wealthy, gorgeous guy who basically runs the real estate market with his dad in the beach town. Callie and Luke meet by sudden chance, and Callie is hesitant to fall head-over-heels for him. Unexpectedly, Callie finds a secret diary in the back closet in her new house. What she discovers could entirely change her relationship with Luke forever.
↓ My thoughts
If you are looking for something light and fluffy, this is it! Cue the beach waves and sunny weather. While more idealistic than realistic, Hale paints a gorgeous setting that provides a great (mental) beach vacation.
I wasn’t totally obsessed with Callie or Luke and found their relationship to be a bit artificial, but it was a cute story that was relaxing and easy to plow through.
Thank you Forever for a finished copy!

What a sweet, summer time romance!
This adorable rated PG Hallmark movie style story is about Callie. She is looking to start over in life. She and her friend Olivia purchase a beach front B&B to rennovate and reopen in a resort spot.
Local celeb and hunk Luke comes in like a storm and throws off Callie's plan. He is sweet, down to earth, and is nothing like the papers say. He likes Callie's spirit, and the fact that she wants nothing from him. She just wants to spend time getting to know him.
In this story we deal with varying family dynamics and secrets. These 2 individuals go slow with their relationship, and fight against it for different reasons.
I adore Jenny Hale's writing. This is such a sweet, heartfelt story. I highly suggest picking it up!
