After [b:Redwall|1046363|Redwall (Redwall, #1)|Brian Jacques|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1297497189l/1046363._SY75_.jpg|486980] this is my next favourite by Brian Jacques. As a young Scottish lass, it was awesome to pick up a book and read some dialogue in Scots (or as close as you could get at the time!) I adored the friendship between Tam and Doogy, and their quest for independence interweaving with the larger battle between Redwall and The Long Patrol against the evil Gulo the Savage and his cannibal horde.

You want some cool songs, riddles, poems, fight scenes, friendship, loss, courage, romance, adventure, humour, and an all-round good time? You've got it here in spades!

I am a huge fan of Brian Jacques, and all of his Redwall books. I especially love listening to the audiobook versions. Which I will always do.

2/29/20: Still one of my favourite books to listen to, full of good friends, food, and adventure!

I read Redwall and enjoyed it. Picked this up randomly and couldn't finish it cuz it felt like a remake of Redwall but with diff animals. I do like how the hero has so much honor, not to break an oath.

I was obsessed with this book (and all the rest of the series) when I was 10. Much less obsessed now. Way more violent than I remembered, and missing some of the cozy Redwall factor that I recall permeating the series. Perhaps it’s a case of not being in the right mood for a book at the time I read it, but it was a struggle to finish. 2.5 stars.
