This book is everything you would want in a dark academia. Gave me Secret History vibes, but had the occult element verses Greek. Loved it! I see a big complaint readers have is the slow start....but that is how a lot of dark academia books are, especially the Secret History. The author really sets the mood and atmosphere, and continues to build until the final twist!

Loved it - palatable dark academia. The secret history with more fun on the mystery of it all and less dense prose. I was even genuinely shocked at a point - the pace was pretty good too

I wanted more depth to the characters. Too many unfinished issues.
I really liked the concept of this book and did enjoy learning about the history of Tarot, but it just kind of slowly built to some reveals that were pretty obvious from chapter 1. Also, the characters were annoying…like almost all of them, somehow. Even in mysteries like this, I need characters to be a bit more likeable. That’s my opinion though and this is my first book by this author, so maybe I’m just not a good fit for her writing style.
