What a cute, funny, love story with great rep including a plus size main character who is the coolest! If you’re a fan of the bachelor or Disney, you’ll love this modern Cinderella loose retelling with a reality tv twist. I absolutely adored some of the changes the author made to the storyline (i.e. fun, over-the-top, supportive stepsisters vs evil ones) and I think it gave the story such a fresh feel. *POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT* I also really appreciate a “happy for now” ending vs “happily ever after” because it just feels so much more realistic.

Now for some of the things I didn’t love. *POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT AGAIN* I am never a fan of when the only conflict is a tiny, minor one and it happens at 90% through the book and is resolved at 98%. There could’ve been much more authentic ones built in that felt more plausible and less rushed throughout. At that point I was like why even give us a conflict, just let them be happy? But besides that I really enjoyed this story and I think it’s one a lot of others will too.

Normally, I am a sucker for a good retelling - especially Cinderella! I adored the beginning of this book! But the ending left sooooo much to be desired. It was rushed and just didn’t make sense in terms if all the emotion and detail that went into the beginning. The book was less than 300 pages, so there was clearly more room for detail there!

I gave it 3 stars because I loved the heroine and the relationships throughout. So much representation of different life scenarios! Beck was amazing too! Just wish the ending was better.

This book was fun to read.  I love Henry and Cindy.  I forgot it was fade to black but that wasn't a huge deal for me personally.  I was disappointed by the ending.  I feel like I wanted more closure maybe.  An epilogue probably would have made it so that I was more satisfied.  Where the book ends, it was technically a happy ending but it just felt unfinished for me.  And this book is on the shorter side from the other romances I've read recently so I think there was room for it without feeling like the story was dragging.

I appreciated that the main character's plus size body was never a question in terms of her relationships. She never doubted herself in that way, and her love interest never did either. Some other books of this genre do the opposite, having the character "come to terms" with her body or doubt her "worthiness" of love. I'm so, so glad this book wasn't like that.

I wasn't a huge fan of how quickly everything wrapped up at the end. It was more like they both assumed they'd obviously get back together, so the just did.

Delightful take on Cinderella, with a Bachelor-inspired setting. Many aspects reminded me of One to Watch. I particularly loved the way that this book evoked, and then changed, the familiar Cinderella story. Henry and Cindy have one of my favorite meet cutes in recent memory. This was a quick read and lacked some of the depth of character and relationship development I look for in romance, but was still very enjoyable.

THIS WAS SO CUTE!

If you're looking for a fluffy, make-you-smile-from-ear-to-ear, butterflies-in-your-tummy romcom this is the one for you! AND it's a body-positive, Cinderella retelling (with a different family dynamic than we're used to seeing in the original)?! Set in a Bachelor/Bachelorette-esque television show?! With a confident, talented, and funny female lead who has goals beyond finding a partner?! This book is literal perfection and it's being shelved in my mind as a book to pick up whenever I'm feeling sad and need a little pick me up!

Wow what a great read! I really enjoyed this Cinderella retelling and thought it was so cleverly done. I really liked how it moved away from the traditional “evil stepmother” plot to her having a good relationship with her step mother and sisters. This meant there was more emotional depth to the story and it was lovely to read about how they had bonded as a family.
The reality tv element was so fun and I could picture it all happening. I thought it was a great premise and I really enjoyed this element of the book.
The plus sized rep was SO brilliantly done  in my opinion. I loved how Cindy was unapologetically herself and that she didn’t doubt whether the love interest was into her due to her weight. This never even came into their relationship and I really liked that. I also liked how she handled fatphobia and the issues around sizing in the fashion industry - it provided great insight and context without having a overly negative plot about her weight. She also had NO desire to lose weight or change who she was - let’s celebrate this more please! I love seeing people who are happy in their own skin and embracing who they are, and this was personally my favourite element of this great book.
Overall I really enjoyed it, despite not being super invested in the love story, and definitely recommend!
