This was a wild ride. Just...wow.

This one starts with a note at the front of the book warning of "gory violence." Seeing this I figured I knew what I was in for, having read many splatterpunk books in the past few years. However knowing what I'm in for and knowing when and where it would happen are two totally different things. I was so unprepared for the first twisty scenes arrival- I mean, it just comes out of no where (in the best way) I actually gasped out loud! From there it became impossible to put this one down I read it in one sitting the horror, the dystopia the characters..what a wild ride. I don't say this often, but I actually wish this one had been just a little longer!

How far would you go for the one you love?  It's time for The Days Of Dreams which is the hunger games propelled to the next level.  Buckle in because this is a fast paced action filled read. There are also moments of tenderness between some characters that further enrich the story. I love the story features Gay characters and their story is amazingly written. The only issue I had was the pronoun usage isn't consistent so that can become confusing. Do not let that stop you from reading this story please!  I would recommend and would love to see this concept in even greater detail. Hopefully there may be a novel in the future!

I was provided a copy of Days of Dreams and am happily leaving this review of this amazing read.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book from the author. This is a quick read that combines my favorite genres - horror and LGBTQ. It also has a bit of gory extreme horror elements at times so that is even better in my opinion. The premise reminds me of Hunger Games but this story is much more bloody and queer if that’s what you’re into (which I am).

I want to be honest and give creative criticism. First off the story was good, it felt like a dark version of The Hunger Games. It was a short and quick reading experience. The gruesome parts were fairly disturbing (which in this case is good 😄). I really like reading this story from all the different POV’s.

However, there are some flaws, the biggest one being that the pronouns of the characters aren’t consistent. In one sentence it goes from they to him. It makes for a confusing read.
I wish there was more world and character building. A little more history of how this all transpired and more character development maybe some more visual descriptions.

My final thoughts are that, though this is a novella it could definitely become a full novel. This story has good bones but feels like a first draft unfortunately. I think with a rewrite and a good editor it could be amazing. I can see the work that went into writing this and want to give props to Aiden Messer for getting a good story out there. I look forward to seeing what he brings in the future.
