I listened to the audiobook for this book and it is amazing. The added sound effects sometimes startle me (lol) but it adds so much to the story telling!

I can’t believe we’re at book 3 and STILL don’t know who the stalker is, but I’m not even upset about it. The way it keeps us guessing and suspecting person after person is addicting. This series is perfect, I’m not even done and want to reread it.

After the bombshell dropped at the end of book 2, MK gets some space from the guys, relying on the Reapers to keep her safe from her stalker/potential murderer, a plan the guys don’t love, but have to get on board with. Things continue to escalate with that situation and things take a turn for the worse while MK and the guys work to repair their relationship, finally answer her questions and figure out how to move forward together.

I was SO glad when MK and Archer finally got past their stupidness and got together. His surliness and her relentlessness made for an explosive start to their relationship and I was so happy that he was on board with their RH - they’re closer than brothers and his denial could have sent it all crashing down. Her relationships with Kody and Steele were so solid and I’m glad adding in Archer didn’t disrupt those as well. I really did want to learn more about Kody and Steele’s family though...we know so much about Archer and MK that I’ve been dying for more about the other two guys. There’s still one more book, but I’m not getting my hopes up for more.

I did have some problems with this book - I felt like MK’s intelligence was called into question a lot in this installment. She kept making decisions that didn’t make sense, that put her and her friends in jeopardy, that would come back to bite her in the butt later in the story...but she continued to decide things without actually thinking through the consequences first. Also, we find out a bit more about how Archer, Kody and Steele earned their freedom from the Reapers and how they have so much pull in Shadow Grove. I didn’t know what to expect, but that was definitely not it. Somehow they’re in their early 20s and they amassed a crazy amount of power and took down another gang? Just seemed really crazy...especially since there wasn’t much detail about any of it.

And THAT CLIFFHANGER. Tate, why did you have to do that to us?! I’m so glad I waited to read these until they were all out because I’m going to dive into book 4 right now...I NEED to know what happens next!

MK finally finds out why Archer is so cold towards her all the time. And how the guys have so much power and control over, well, everyone.

Her stalker intensifies his pursuit even more, and it’s baffling how he has so much information in his arsenal to carry out even half of what he does! Next level creepy.

As there is also still someone out there trying to kill her, Kody starts training her in self defence, she gets some boxing lessons, Archer gifts her with a butterfly knife, and Steele teaches her how to shoot. Anything they can do to keep her safe, they do. Will it be enough though?

I needed to suspend my disbelief a lot more with this book than the previous two as there is a lot that happens that is just totally implausible. Having said that, the writing and the pace of the action is good enough that it was easy to just sit back and enjoy the story.

MK…for all of her fiery, stubborn, feistiness, she is incredibly naive. Especially when it comes to one increasingly shady character which was so frustrating. Girl, you have a stalker AND someone trying to kill you out there and you just keep making excuses for this guy? Come on! His behaviour is honestly so shady that I was IMMEDIATELY suspicious of him, but it takes most of the book before she finally admits that he’s a bit off. I mean with that lack of self preservation it’s a miracle she’s still alive.

But what a cliffhanger!
