Avengers Academy, overall, is a pretty good series.

Here's what I didn't like:

It seems like there was a lot of time spent with various students and teachers and guest stars getting in pointless fistfights that someone else would interrupt and say, "Guys! This is pointless! We're not the enemy here!"

This happened almost constantly. Which was really annoying. Lots of time fighting, looking remorseful, shaking hands and then going to beat up some other dude.

What I did like:

In this last volume I thought we really got down to a nice good guys v. bad guys thing. It was a nice culmination.

Now, that said, there were two issues at the end that wrapped up the series. The feel-good end of issue kind of thing, but twice. I could have been satisfied with one, but what can you do?

I’ve moderately enjoyed this series... but only about 3 stars worth. I’m very much looking forward to Avengers Arena and I hope it will be a lot more action packed and competitive!

The flag football game was absolutely amazing. The rest was a mix of awesome and stuff that I didn't get. That may be because I don't know what's going on, or it may be something else. IDK.

flag football was amazing.

The football game was definitely the best part of this.
I really wish there'd been more X-23. I know I only think this because Laura is one of my all-time favourite characters, but I don't want to watch Finesse sulk around the place alone, I want to see how Laura is dealing with this. Every time she makes a friend something awful happens. She has serious trust issues to begin with, and now this. How she's dealing with things was only looked at in relation to Finesse, and I just don't care.
Really I just want a new X-23 run. Basically.

This series. Wow. I think I've gotten way to attached to these characters and I really need them to show up again in something. Please! Once I got into this series is absolutely fell in love. Can't believe it's over.

WHY IS IT OVER D:

Ughhhhh boooo. It was a good way to go out, I guess.

Important review notes: Mettle and Hazmat are so cute together awwww. Also normal-human Mettle is a hottie DANG.

Most importantly, the AA vs X-Men football game was EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED FROM COMICS INCLUDING GAMBIT GIVING ROMANTIC ADVICE TO TEENAGERS

MARVEL PLEASE MAKE A COMIC SERIES THAT'S JUST GAMBIT AND WOLVERINE GIVING LIFE ADVICE TO TEENAGERS

I WILL WRITE IT 4 U 4 FREE

HOLLA AT ME MARVEL

This series started promisingly but seemed to fizzle out in the end. (And the final disposition of Maddy is ridiculous.) I think it really started going wrong at the cast expansion; none of the new kids except Laura/X-23 got enough characterization to feel like a real person, and even for the earlier cast, the focus seemed to shift from characterization to plotting. My main interest in the second half of the series was really just shipping Jeanne/Laura.
