I enjoyed this! This is a fun summer romance novel that is mostly light-hearted and easy to read.
It’s not groundbreaking or anything but a solid addition to the genre. It did make me question if I’ve ever had a good scone before because the way they’re describing them makes me think I haven’t.

I picked this up fully on a whim and had a great time and will almost certainly pick up other Emma Lord books because of it.

This just about got a 3 star. For most of the book it just felt meh. The relationship between June and Levi felt more like a friendship than anything more, I could not see any real attraction there. Half the book felt repetitive with how the fake dates were set up. I found myself skim reading the last 80 pages as it just started to feel forced and I was over it by this point and if it wasn't a book I got from the Afterlight subscription box then I would have DNFed it but because I have a hard time getting rid of special editions I forced myself to finish it. This had potential, and I loved June's brother and his fiancé, but the execution just wasn't it.
Minor: Grief, Gaslighting
FMC lost her sister 2 years prior and is still somewhat grieving but not really realising it. FMC ex is a gaslighter and you get brief moments when you see it from comments made on their past plus some moments between them
