It’s very cute and exactly the type of romcom you want to read after reading the description. I also thought the premise was fairly innovative and different, which made it even more fun. The pacing was good - I didn’t think they dragged it on for too long. Perfect. However, my main reason for not ranking it higher was because some the  writing took me out of it. There would be a low of showing but then the author would also tell, which got on my nerves. And sometimes, the writing went deep in a comical, cliche, over dramatic way. I also wish there was more Sana.
The main character, June, also got the least characterization outside of her relationships with the other characters. However, it didn’t really impede my joyful reading experience. But it also mean that this book didn’t knock me out of the water.

I found myself smiling giddily while listening and driving thinking this was going to be one of those books I adore…

And then it fizzled out. The premise of two friends rekindling a “fake” relationship to get back at their crappy exes was highly captivating. Parts made me laugh out loud and I enjoyed a lot of the characters but then the build up stopped and it just became a bit redundant.

I enjoyed it but it left me wanting more.

I wanted to like this so much more than I did. There were great moments, but overall it fell flat for me. I've really enjoyed Emma Lord's YA books, there is something about that time of transition that she captures really well. Here, I felt that part was still the most interesting for her, as what happened with they were teens and young adults was key to the relationships of the main characters, but since we didn't see it on the page, it didn't have much emotional resonance, and we keep being told things instead of seeing and feeling them. There were so many pieces of the plot that none of them felt developed.

thank you to netgalley and the publisher for providing an e arc!

rounding my rating from a 2.5 up for goodreads. there is a lot of warmth and coziness to this romance but all of the different parts never quite added up to something that i was interested in. the central fake dating plot was pretty rushed and to be honest seemed a little half baked. Levi and June were endearing leads but a lot of their relationship was told and not shown. the last 20% really did fizzle out and there were pretty glaring pacing issues
Spoiler(why was so much of the book focused around june's brother's wedding if it was never even included in the story?)
i would still recommend if someone was looking for a light and breezy summer romcom.
