I was very disappointed by this book. I loved Murder Road so I thought I would read another book by that author but it didn’t really hit the spot.
Way too much violence against women and the twist at the end was very very predictable.

There were a few lose ends that needed tying up, and
sending Viv Delaney to prison in the end felt like a morazing choice
. But these were minor issues compared to all the amazing elements of this book: the dual timeline (which worked particularly well in the audiobook version), and the super effective use of horror/supereatural elements. If you wanted the creepiness without the gore and don't want to choose between stong character development and suspense, this book is for you!

This book reminded me of the creepy stories I would read as a kid in that I wasn’t scared of the ghosts and it didn’t feel like a horror film where everything is tense. And that’s my sweet spot- creepy and spooky without feeling tense and scared.

This is a well made and served slice of horror, with enough twists to keep the pace going up! I liked the feminist take on crime and its reporting/portrayal too. It added a lot to the connection to the characters for me.

Will definitely be on the lookout for more from this author.

This was such a good paranormal thriller! My only complaint is it felt a little repetitive at times, but honestly, it didn't ruin my enjoyment of the book at all. I highly recommend this for people who love the paranormal, thrillers, cold cases, haunted houses or, in this case, hotels!

An enjoyable supernatural, generational murder mystery. Great world building and a seriously spooky premise. The back and forth timeline switching is a concept I like quite a bit. However I would have enjoyed some flashback scenes or more depth in the characters' pasts.

Totally fine, but not as compelling as I wanted it to be
