Definitely cute, but didn’t necessarily stand out as a contemporary romance. The You’ve Got Mail/A Cinderella Story girlies are gonna love this one!

gosh i’m sad this book is over. it was like a warm hug. the mental health and neurodivergence rep were so well done. i loved being able to relate to lucy and the way fletcher cared for her amidst it all - swooooon. the hidden identity trope is always one of my faves. also can we talk about the audiobook!?! 10/10. definitely keeping my eye on jessica lepe!!

If you're going to pick this one up, I highly suggest the audio. I started off with a mix of reading and listening, but I was continually pulled back to the audiobook with its duet narration and sound effects. It was amazing!

I loved that we got to see debilitating anxiety and depression within a profession you wouldn't typically expect. Lucy Galindo is living two lives. By day she works as a high school guidance counselor, often escaping to her cry closet. In her free time she is the confident @TheMissGuidedCounselor offering wisdom on Instagram. I thought her comfort behind a screen was very relatable, but also a great reminder that anyone could be struggling with their mental health behind closed doors.

Unknowingly interacting both online and in person, the romance between Lucy and Fletcher (the new history teacher) gave strong "You've Got Mail" vibes! I really, really enjoyed their online banter, but sadly their in-person relationship was just ok for me. Something about their overall chemistry didn't feel quite believable.

(heat level: one open-door scene, explicit details)

Anonymous online friends who fall for each other IRL (you’ve got mail vibes, minus the competition).

Secret identities + Jewish / Latinx / mental health rep + DMs on page!

In real life, Lucy is a mess. And she’s crushing on the hot new history teacher.
But her online persona? She has her shit together.

Fletcher is floundering with family drama & his new teaching job.
The best part of his day? Talking to his online pal.

What happens when Fletcher figures out Lucy is his online pal?

I binge read this one cover to cover in one sitting and loved it!

Lucy is absolutely so relatable. From the neurodivergence (anxiety, depression, adhd) to her insecurities and so much more. Her family was the perfect cast of side characters, adding depth & so much humor.

I just wanted to hug Fletcher. He is deep in family drama, teaching at a new high school, and just trying to stay afloat.

I’ve read a dozen books with ADHD rep, and this is the book that made me feel the most seen with the way ADHD shows up for me - how a simple to do list with a few things on it can be debilitating, a phone call that would take 2 minutes can take me months to make, and more.

I lovvvved the DMs on page, and how they added depth to the real life interactions and gave us more insight into the online friendship they had built for so long before the present day.

There are so many spoilers I can’t talk about that just made me love this book so much. Their first date is one of my favorites.
