This series is amazing in that no matter how many times we return to the main star couple, Elena and Raphael, it remains fresh and new and their story seems to progress the entire series. This books should have felt a little slow because it centers around the Cadre being summoned by the Luminata (i.e. an ancient order of angels) to sort out issues around Lijuan’s territory since she has disappeared. Yet, it feels like a continuation of Elena and Raphael’s love story (even with the endless Knebhek, hbeebti repetitions) where we unlock secrets of Elena’s heritage, catch up with Elena and Raphael’s love story and get to witness Aodhan coming into his own and finally healing. It was a very contained sort of story but didn’t feel slow or draggy and always felt like it was moving forward. As an added benefit, we got a bit more character development around some of the other archangels. I’m still really enjoying this series and can’t wait for the next one.

We are back with Elena and Raphael as the Cadre is called together to Lumia in order to decide whether or not Lijuan has gone to Sleep/is dead. While there they investigate the mystery of the cult like Luminata and Elena's family history.

Liked the plot...but adored all the Aodhan content. After only a few years back into the world he's finding his place. He smiles and not only lets Elena touch him, he even initiates touch with her...with Illium. While Illium is happy to have his friend back he also forgets that Aodhan can be strong on his own causing friction between the two.

Is it obvious that Bluebell and Sparkles are my favorites?

Great addition to the series.
