This series is amazing in that no matter how many times we return to the main star couple, Elena and Raphael, it remains fresh and new and their story seems to progress the entire series. This books should have felt a little slow because it centers around the Cadre being summoned by the Luminata (i.e. an ancient order of angels) to sort out issues around Lijuan’s territory since she has disappeared. Yet, it feels like a continuation of Elena and Raphael’s love story (even with the endless Knebhek, hbeebti repetitions) where we unlock secrets of Elena’s heritage, catch up with Elena and Raphael’s love story and get to witness Aodhan coming into his own and finally healing. It was a very contained sort of story but didn’t feel slow or draggy and always felt like it was moving forward. As an added benefit, we got a bit more character development around some of the other archangels. I’m still really enjoying this series and can’t wait for the next one.

Love the MC’s and this world. I found myself skimming most of the book as it moved so slow rehashing histories and details we’ve heard before in previous books, and I just wanted more to happen already. Towards the end of the book I got my wish and there was an interesting development in the mystery of Elena’s family history.

Elena and Raphael travel to Morocco when a secret group known as the Luminata call a meeting of the Cadre. Elena has a strange feeling about the Luminata and believes that all is not as it seems. Raphael and Elena discover that the Luminata's leader, has been acting as the king of the area. After rescuing and meeting her grandparents for the first time, Elena learns that they are both hunters. I enjoyed seeing more of Raphael and Elena as their relationship grows. Singh shares more information about Aodhan's past and his close friendship with Illium.

As expected from Nalini Singh.....PERFECTION.

I am a big fan of Nalini Singh and boy did she deliver. This book had everything. Star-crossed lovers, a mysterious sect of angels with a rotten core, more info about the Casacade and plenty of sigh-worthy moments between Elena and Raphael. This was another great addition to the Guild Hunter series.

I really enjoyed this one. My only complaint is that it took too long to get to the good stuff. The exposition was entirely necessary, but I knew the author was going to finally uncover some of Elena's family history, and I've be especially interested to learn more about it. I enjoyed this story immensely.

My loves Elena and Raphael! Every book that’s about them is immediately one of my favourites. The plot was extremely interesting and similar to a thriller so the focus wasn’t as much on them per se. Nonetheless I enjoyed it lots and I adore how they are growing and evolving together. Especially all the little moments where Elena’ increase in strength can be observed and how Raphael develops as well.
