An extremely grown-up and well-written account of and meditation on a taboo subject. Highly recommended.

As evidenced by what shelf I put this on... I had to quit reading it. It's written so poorly! Even the first few chapters wouldn't make any sense to anyone who didn't already know the details about the crime. Of course it's possible it actually gets better, but the first few chapters are entirely about how the author felt covering the trial and not about the trial itself, the crime, nor about child murderers in any sense.

The author examines a case in Great Britain in which two very young children are on trial for the brutal murder of a playmate. Do they really deserve the death penalty for their crime? Most thought-provoking.
