Excellent installment in the series - it has everything: gripping plot, perfect pacing, swoonworthy romance, funny moments, tragic events, unexpected twists and turns. Maggie and Caleb's predicaments are much more serious and trying, and their enemies became more ruthless and cunning. It was funny situation with Maggie's Dad and his destiny - who knew, that it was possible? I won't retell the plot-just read and find by yourself, how wonderful this book is!!! Well done, Mrs.Crane - you are amazing, as usual!

Shelly Crane is a genius! I finished Defiance about a half hour ago and I had to sit and take a moment to gather my thoughts. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this series so much. There are so many twists and turns for Maggie and Caleb that I don't even know what they can't face together.
Shelly Crane is such an amazing and brilliant writer as she draws you in as a reader and makes you feel like you are one of the characters in the book. There are some new characters that have been added to the series and although I got a bit confused as to who was who I caught on quickly and now I think they are great. They blend in with the rest of the characters and then some of our previous characters start playing bigger roles.
In Defiance there are a lot of inner things that you find out and you find out what happened to the last Visionary. You will also find out some news that frankly blew my mind. I had to stop and re-read a certain part just to make sure that I had read it correctly. I sadly had and I then flipped out. There are some sad parts the biggest one being towards the end that as many story line has them but Shelly crafted them in such a way I couldn't help but cry. Oh I can't wait to read the next book.

This book was better than Accordance. I loved how Maggie decided that enough was enough and decided to embrace the Visionary. There were definitely things that I knew would happen and definitely somethings I did not see coming. At some parts I started tearing up and sniffling. I could not put this book down because I wanted to know to what was going to happen and I had to know right away. Maggie and Caleb are the perfect couple that love and support each other 100%, no matter what. I am so excited for Independence, I WANT the book NOW!!!!
