There’s definitely character development but this story was just okay. There’s literally nothing Maximo has done to warrant forgiveness.

I can’t help but think there’s a bigger plan that Giovanni has up his sleeve. Like way more than her signing that contract.

I wouldn’t feel bad for Maximo since it was his fault that Vito got shot. I think I know who what’s going on with Dox and Diamond. I think I know who the Drake is too.

A LOT of misspelled words, even character names.

okay so… this was generally better than the first book. the characters were all a little more palatable. Winter got so much better. i’m never one to complain when a m/c is depressed/whiny/cries a lot, especially bc most of the time the situation warrants that, but something about Winter really has been rubbing me the wrong way. so thank god for our lord and saviour Lucia and her little chats with Winter bc now she’s starting to toughen up, i like her a little more.

i can’t stand Maximo. i know the author wants us to like him, but i can’t just forget the events of the first book. tbh i did find myself starting to like him a tiny bit (probably as Winter started being more okay with him), but every time that small voice in my head was like ‘stop right there… he literally raped her’. so here’s where i become a hypocrite. Maximo is inherently bad. i don’t like him. when he does something bad, it just proves me right. but Vito… i do actually love Vito. it doesn’t matter how many times he’s nice to Winter one second and then treating her like trash the next, it doesn’t matter that he keeps insisting he’s the worst - my brain just goes 🥺🥺🥺🥺 whenever he’s mentioned.

i’ve gotta give credit to Quirah Casey tho. i was so ready to give up on this series during the first book. but this second one has piqued my interest enough that i already kinda feel impatient for the third one.

This series isn’t easy to read and it’s not for everyone so please check the TWs. But I personally am enjoying an author tormenting me. Winter finally finds her strength in this one and it’s amazing to see. But I seriously went from liking/loving everyone to hating them all. But that’s what Casey wants so I’m here for it! Bring on the ruthlessness
