This entire series is BONKERS and gets more ridiculous as time goes on but I can’t stop reading. Why are there seven million different plots going on? Why did I have to read about a car dealership scam? Why can’t I ever remember what happened three books ago that is crucial to the story? IDK but I love it.

Pendergast: I know how strange it must seem. But at least for the time being, I must insist in your full and complete suspension of disbelief.

D'Agosta: Disbelief? That's an understatement. It's totally crazy.

Pendergast: You'll find out soon enough. We are here.

This exchange comes about a third to halfway through Two Graves and it is here that I felt the authors were talking directly to the reader. These books have always been fun, even after the Pendergast series long ago ran out its arc (I mean, they've resorted to Nazis in the present day as their villains), but this one's just gone bonkers. Again, still fun, although the ending wasn't the usual page turning, late night readfest these books usually provide me. Again, despite Pendergast's above entreaty, it was really hard to stay with. Still, if you're a Pendergast/Preston&Child completist, be sure to read this.

This new Pendergast novel reminded me why I LOVE this series and this character. Lies, murder, and mayhem...all the things I love in a good book!

Not one of the better Pendergast books, but at least it wraps up a bunch of loose ends. I can't decide if it would be best to leave this as the last of the series, or if the authors should begin with a new Pendergast adventure, maybe one that's more like the earlier stories. In any case, I do love the character and the quirky/horrific storylines so this was a great read to start off a vacation.

The conclusion of the "Helen" trilogy, and like "The Third Gate" before it, I'm left a little unsatisfied. Preston/Child are getting a touch too formulaic.

A thrill ride for sure! The beginning of the book kept me guessing! Perhaps not the best Pendergast book, but I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next one!

A strong conclusion to the Helen Trilogy. It didn't grip me as quickly as the first two in the trilogy, something about the way they wrote Pendergast's depressive episode just didn't resonate with me. I love the introduction of Tristram and Alban, and I look forward to more of them.
