If you love greek myth you will love this. Lots of action with just the teeniest bit of romance, which is just to my taste. Beautiful story telling and fantastic characters.

I really liked this author's The Hundredth Queen series and read  all four books there ... this, I liked it fine, but I don't know that I'll continue on with the series. This felt like it had an end, and glancing at the blurb for the next one, it didn't call to me.

When I was young, I was really into mythology. Now ... not so much. I find myself shying away. This was included in KU, text and audio, so I figured I'd give it a try. Set in a world of early Greek Mythology, with Cronus and the titans, a young Zeus. Althea is our MC, and this is a "women are strong" tale (both Althea and her sisters, and the women on Crete).

Gaea (usually spelled Gaia), and in the narration, Uranus ... often so jokingly said with the emphasis on "anus" here was "Urine-us" ... is that better? And Narcissus is a flower instead of a vain boy, also with an odd pronunciation, more nar-su-sus. Same narrator as the Hundredth Queen series, which is both good and bad. She (Lauren Ezzo) is good, but she also sounds the same, and so there were some flashbacks to that storyline/characters for me.

The "love triangle" was a bit odd ... there's a guard "Theo" and some attraction there, but not a ton, and then there's Zeus ... and at the end, we are told Althea's true name  (which if you know your Greek God history ...)

Very fast-paced and packed with greek mythology, it's a short read which is both good and bad. Everything was a bit rushed since it was less than 300 pages, but if you want a quick read, read this.
It focuses on Althea, who cares for her younger sisters per her Mother's dying wish.
Althea wants to vanquish the almighty. She ends up meeting a son of Cronus, who shares her goal.

If you love greek myths then I think you'll enjoy this one, its fast fast fast!

I found most of this to be teeth-grittingly annoying. Yet I could hardly put it down. Take that as you will.

Edit: the “feminism” really killed me. Amongst a love triangle with her brother, even. Love itttt.

Lovvveeeeee retellings and even better it’s an origin story. I feel like rarely I read, or am given a rec, to read about the coming of Zeus and the downfall of Cronus. I know the story because of mythology sections in English classes, but so seldom does it get a creative spin to it.

I felt sad, betrayed, dishonored, honored and really all emotions except for sadness which is all good for me. The sense of retribution at the end was satisfying.

I truly think it was fun to see the connection between Zeus and Hera and in this retelling, where and how Hera came to be and what is special about her. I appreciated in, will be reading the second of this series.

I would read again, 100%
