It was ok, but extremely slow-going. The main character isn't super likable (he reminded me a lot of Sheldon Cooper), and the ending was extremely depressing. Overall a decent, if dated, read.

This book reads beautiful as a dystopia from the cold war. Misery is the name of the game and mankind are the only players. Would certainly recommend if you fancy a short spell of cosmic hopelessness.

An interesting (and depressing) look at what global nuclear war could bring. It definitely feels like a cold war piece, but it's much more depressing than they normally are.

It's good, and I like it a bunch, but it was depressing. Did I mention that it was kind of depressing? It was.

Much better than On the Beach, by Nevil Shute. You feel for the narrator, see through their eyes, and weep for their soul. Wow. Well worth the short read.

Powerful and disturbing. An interesting product of its time and a must read for anyone interested in the Cold War.

This book, although dated, gives a very clear warning to the ideas of the time period. The writing I had a problem with, mostly because it was very technical. The technical, monotone writing took away from the experience for me, but I realize that the way it was written was meant to portray the narrator as emotionless.

The entire story is poignant, ironic, and moving. Most of all, it carries the unforgettable message to stop the insanity of nuclear war preparation and nuclear stockpiling before it's too late. A good but slightly boring read.

Reads like an old school utopia novel -- the kind that's more explaining what the utopia's going to be like, rather than the kind with a... y'no, plot.
