The best of the best. Wow the culmination of 8 books in the making and what a wonderful ride it was. Definitely the most emotional book to date, with a fantastic murder mystery and a tense cat-and-mouse chase.

This book deserves 5 star for that one heart-breaking elevator scene alone. This book focuses on Armand Gamache and Jean-Guy Beauvoir's relationship. Words cannot do this book justice. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It is honestly worth reading 8 books just to get to this story.

Their relationship will probably stay with me for a while.

Wow. Last chapters were so satisfying. My heart was racing, and I had to take a few breaks and jump around.

Definitely a standout from the rest of the series!

How I wish I could live in my own version of Three Pines, notwithstanding its snow levels and death count, HA.
