I have never read this as an adult, but as a horse obsessed girl, it was wonderful! I read it quite a few times.

I proof listened to an audiobook version of this novel for Librivox.org. I hadn’t read it since I was a child, but it remains a gripping, well-told story, especially when heard in the charming voice of Ayesha Ashraf.
It took me a little longer than I expected to finish it. I remember loving the movie when I was a kid and it was a great experience to actually read the story. It was slow for me to read—way different from most of the books I usually read now, and though I felt a slight connection to the book I couldn’t help but find it a tad bit boring.
It was still a nice read and I’m looking forward to watching the movie for the first time in a while.

I've been trying to read the classics but just end up not liking them as much as I expected.
This just isn't my sort of book.
