A brilliant retelling of an old tale, but it also serves as a critique of the ancient writings that are laden with patriarchal values and misogyny. The story of a woman and her fight to survive and escape her possessive husband. A short and engaging story which manages to make you attached to Galatea within the very brief time we spend with her. Bittersweet and upsetting commentary on the disease of misogyny.

A short first read of 2024 and it was quick and not too easy to read. It tackled a solid number of issues and I really liked the end.

A very solid masterpiece of a short story. Due to it being a very short short story, I will only rate it 4 stars, but it was excellent.

Miller’s voice is so distinct and she makes Galatea into someone. I love female rage. Simply.
