Super interesting “story within the story”. Larson does a really good job of bringing the glamour, color, and horror of Berlin at the time to life. Really reads like a thriller which terrifies me that people really had to live and navigate through it all. Rattles me to think about. First Erik Larson book…I’ll be back for more!

This was a very slow read. The story demands absolute concentration to recognize all of the German names and locations. I do not recommend this book, unless you love historical novels. I bought his book for book club, and thought it would be fun to read something outside my normal genre of reading style, but I was wrong.
