I avsolutely loved loved loved they both die at the end, so I had a lot of hopes for this prequel, which maybe is why I was a little disappointed. The story was great, I adored Valentino and Orion and their connection. The fact that we got to see more of Mateo and Rufus made me so happy as well! My main issue with this book was that many events just seemed so unlikely; it's not enough to have one traumatic experience, there has to be an incurable heart-disease as well and a bump into a stranger with a traumatic past who happens to be the first decker as well. The way all the events add up in this book made it hard to believe that those things could really be happening the way they did. The message and the ending and the emotions this book conveys are incredible, which is why I still really enjoyed reading it, it just made it a little hard to believe.
