This was a reread and I definitely enjoyed it more the second read through. It's quite a long book and doesn't always follow the typical story arc, with the usual set up but many different threats consistently throughout the book, not seemingly building to a major climactic threat, just existing on their own as obstacles. Tiuri travels primarily alone but meets allies and enemies on his journey, only a few who travel with him further. Whilst the characters are all quite memorable, you don't spend much time with most as Tiuri moves on to the next stage of his journey. When I first read the book, I was not prepared for the language, the length, as I read it digitally, or how the story was told so it felt difficult to get through and to keep up with what had last happened in the story. However, I decided to read it again, in anticipation of watching the Netflix show, and enjoyed it much more. Now that I remembered how the book was, I felt less thrown off and found I really enjoyed it and connected with more of the characters. Overall, a great story which I definitely recommend but the writing style is probably not for everyone
