I gave this book a 5/5 because I found this book to tell a story that was very reflective and interesting. It was also a little bit sad at some points of it. This book is truly an amazing story of bravery, love, and care for the weak by the main character.

This is obviously a very important book. It was interesting and heartbreaking to hear his story. This is to me very textbook like, which is fine, but was hard for me to fully comprehend and connect with it. I do think everyone should read this because we cannot forget.

"And that is why I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented."

This book is an absolutely heart shattering, gut wrenching journey through the eyes of holocaust survivor. I read this book after meeting a holocaust survivor and let me tell you, you will not want to put this book down until it is done, and then you will cry or stare into the void. It contains descriptions I will never forget.

A gripping narrative of the author’s experience in the Holocaust. Relatively short but packs an emotional punch - Wiesel’s prose is devastatingly beautiful and paints a picture of the absolute devastation the worst of humanity can wreak.
