Discworld is a reliably good time. This is my first Death-focused book, but it wasn’t hard to pick up the new characters. Mister Teatime is a surprisingly frightening villain, which is not something I expected from this series, but was very impressed by. The story was as fun as the premise promised, and it had my favorite part of Discworld, which is the relationship between people and the gods. The only thing keeping it from five stars was that there were a few too many storylines and it felt a little too erratic jumping from scene to scene.

Böckerna om "Death" håller som vanligt högt underhållningsvärde, med knivskarp och mycket brittisk dialog, välkända karaktärer som sveper förbi samt en stor dos jul... Bra!

Interesting concept that might work really well if taken seriously. More of a farce than I prefer, though. Also, the lack of chapters was odd and off-putting. Entertaining, but I’m unlikely to pick up another one by the author.

An interesting read. Several concepts are brought up that were quite enjoyable and the character of Death was very charming. Even the humor was fun and got me to laugh aloud many times.

But the style of writing was not to my taste. It made it difficult for me to remain invested and did not stimulate except in random moments interspersed throughout the otherwise somewhat bland text.

I’ve been informed that Terry Pratchett’s writing is different and that there are other books I could try that might ease me into the style a bit better. Perhaps I’ll return to this book later and have a stronger appreciation.

As it stands, I don’t know that I would say this is a “must read”, but there are at the least some laughs to be had as well as some very quotable material.

Wiedźmikołaj to jedna z tych książek, gdzie zaznaczam tysiące cytatów, a tak naprawdę to miałabym ochotę wkleić tu całą książkę.

Flying back to the UK for Hogswatch and this was the perfect book to re-read on the plane. Susan has tried to keep her life as normal as possible - monsters under the bed notwithstanding - but when belief in the Hogsfather starts to wane and the Tooth Fairy is nowhere to be found, she finds it difficult to stay in the background as her Grandfather takes on the role of jolly seasonal gift giver - an unusual hohoho for Death’s usually morose character I’m sure you’ll agree.....
