My siblings and I were searching for an audiobook to listen to for some long road trip days (which was quite the struggle to find anything that didn’t immediately turn us off), but we finally found this one, which completely sucked us in! This follows a woman with amnesia who is also the prime suspect in a murder, which is dragged up again years later when a true crime podcast tries to uncover the answers. It’s often hard to find mysteries and thrillers that work for me, but this had the right balance of twisty enough to keep you engaged but not too dark. The characters were intriguing (if also intentionally frustrating), and I enjoyed the small town dynamics in this story. The story was also well structured, alternating between our unreliable narrator’s perspective and clips from the podcast’s episodes. That element was fun with the audiobook. At times the characters and story went in directions that were a bit much for me, and it didn’t feel like the most unique or surprising mystery I’d ever read. However, this was unexpectedly just the type of mystery/thriller I enjoy, and I would love to read more of these! 🗣🫂👥👯♀️🤕☁️

I am loving the murder podcast trope in books lately! This one was fantastic!!
Lucy returns to her hometown 5 years after the murder of her best friend (Savvy) and everyone thinks she did it. However, Lucy has no recollection of the night she was found wondering down the street covered in Savvy's blood. Enter Ben Owens, true crime podcast host, currently in town at the same time investigating Savvy's murder himself. I loved the depth of Lucy's character throughout this book. It has two timelines-present and 5 years ago-to recount the events leading up to Savvy's murder. Lots of investigation mixed in with Lucy's wit and sarcasm makes this book enjoyable throughout. It wasn't very suspenseful until the end but I really enjoyed trying to figure it all out. I truly had no idea!!
Special thanks to Netgalley and Macmillian audio for this advanced audio copy of Listen For the Lie!

The audible version of this was great, it sounded like a real true crime podcast. I really don’t know what to expect from this book and I’m still left with questions. I’m not sure if the ending was meant to be left for debate of if it just want written well.
I didn’t like any of the characters expect for the grandma but the mystery of the murder held the story up.
I would recommend this book to others looking for a murder thriller.
