informative slow-paced

I was so glad to stumble on this book while doing some research on bibliotherapy. Obviously, books can't shrink a tumor or fix a broken marriage but they can help you adjust to whatever new reality you may be dealing with and give you unexpected insight into your own problems by observing other (fictional) people doing the same. A fun read with a great purpose.

Was this fun to read? Absolutely. Did it add an absurd number of books to my to-read list? Definitely. Do I believe any of these will cure me of my bad habits and moral or mental failings? Certainly not.

I'm not sure how seriously the authors meant this book and its "cures" to be taken (other reviewers seem to suggest that they meant this very much in earnest), but their seriousness doesn't mean you have to believe it to enjoy it. Read it for some suggestions on what to read and why.

Recommendation from @EvieBee - May 2018

Full of great suggestions. I found this book a Happy medium between personal recommendations which can be, well, personal; and bestseller lists which don't help much with personal selections. Some odd categories, but in general I appreciate a curated collection. This had some suggestions I hadn't considered, and I've made a new list of books to check out based on it.

This was so interesting! I wish there was a bibliotherapist in my province. Though a lot of the books weren't in my normal/favourite genres, I think I may try one... or two... or seven....

I found so many good books to add to my reading list. I'm sure I will come back to this a million times to find more.
