Not really as enjoyable as the first novel as the gimmick is no longer interesting.

I know Kawaguchi tries to add layers by moving into the future or exploring Kazu’s story, but the writing is annoyingly repetitive to make it on par with the first. I also just don’t feel for the characters.

Nothing else to say other than it’s a good palette cleanser if you’ve read something more dense.

This WILL make you cry. It has been over a year since I read the first instalment of this book, and this one was JUST as good. Every chapter made me cry. I may even have loved this one more. The ending of this one needs to be printed and framed on my wall. Maybe I just read this book at the exact right time I needed it, but I geniunly think everyone should read this series.

3/5 stars | this was not as good as the first book and was very repetitive. at some point i put down the book for a few months and finally picked it back up just so i can finish it, but with the first book i could NOT put it down. the only little story that had me in my feels was the last one but other than that i didn't really care about the others. it did end in kind of a cliffhanger, so i will definitely be picking up the third book! fingers crossed it'll be great and not repetitive again.
