I don't know how I feel about this book. I've read one other book by Mia Sheridan and subconsciously I feel I kept comparing the writing and pacing of this book to that of Archer's Voice. The time jumps in between were confusing to keep up with: you start the next paragraph and suddenly two weeks had already passed by. The mmc was infuriating at times. Like, I understand that he was plagued by his past and that held him back but some of the things he did were so stupid I could not with him. I found the fmc to be okay. Nice but naïve. I really liked how her love for history was expanded upon and weaved in the story. But her love story was so so. And the ending- It came out of no where??? The mmc had a 180 degree personality flip in 5 pages. Yes, the author was building up to it (I think?) but it was so sudden. For no reason. But it may work as a good book you'd read to numb your mind and get out of a slump.
Graphic: Child abuse, Emotional abuse, and Physical abuse
Minor: Death of parent

Bagus. Sweet. Emosinya dapet banget (seperti buku buku Mia yang lain lah)
Suka banget cerita mereka pas masih kecil, lucu dan polos banget. Sangat disayangkan cara pertemuan mereka setelah sekian tahun terpisahkan menurut saya kurang realistis. Eksekusi konflik juga kurang. Yang bikin saya ngasih 3 bintang adalah the feeling that they had for each other so deep so pure :') setting tempatnya juga sangat mendukung di Paris. Yang sedang butuh bacaan easy light romance with deep feeling ini cocok buat kalian

<b>"“Live fiercely and without regret.”</b>
This is my first book by Mia Sheridan, and I know there's some mixed reviews on this one in comparison to the other stand alones she has published, but I really enjoyed it.
Callen and Jessie met as kids, both searching for an escape from their home lives they ended up finding each other. Call it fate, call it a coincidence, they were what the other needed at the time. A decade passes and they haven't seen each other since they were 13, until they meet again in France. Callen has become a composer, taking his love for music and turning it into a career, and Jessie a translator as she has always dreamed to do when she was a little girl.
I love France, so maybe that had something to do with me enjoying this story so much, but at the same time I know that the reason I loved it so much was because of how pure Jessie and Callen loved each other, even if neither of them were willing to admit it. They had loved each other since they were kids, and once they were back together it was clear that there was no one else for them.
This would have been a 5 star read for me, I read it over the course of one day's time, but some of the events at the end took me out of it briefly. Plus, <b>[spoilers]</b> ... I have never been a fan of accidental pregnancy tropes, or miscommunication.
That being said, at one point I did start crying solely because of how much they felt for each other. So I can't really fault it too much for including somethings that I don't typically enjoy in the later half of the book.
