Surprised how well this book's scientific ideas hold up even 130 years later. Genuinely still a unique and interesting take on what is now a well known trope, despite being the first of its kind!

No strong feelings about this, but I do always find it fascinating to see what people in the past thought the future would be like.

Loved it. Absolutely loved it. I see why it’s regarded as the start of modern science fiction. I cried upon reading about the author in the introduction from another guy. He will never know the impact his words have to this day. He will never know the world turned out to be much brighter than he thought near his death.  I was hooked. I admire Wells’ writing.

It was very compelling, and the world building was extremely well done. I felt immersed as if I were traveled in time too. I cared for the characters and was invested in the plot. I will definitely read this again someday.

This isn’t a book I would typically reach for, which is why I enjoyed it! I did the read-along with @listenwithaudrey and they provided very thought provoking questions throughout the read, which definitely helped me digest this story. A lot of what Wells discussed is still true today and if you’re looking to see what 1895 time travelers look like, I definitely recommend this book. Due take note, that there is some language in this book that isn’t suitable for today’s standards.
