i love anything adam kay writes, i just wish this book was longer! he’s hilarious and so truthful about the often unseen parts of medicine. he also really inspires me to keep up with going into the healthcare field, when some days it can feel difficult, tiring and not worth it. this book is a reminder that even though it’s shit some days, it totally is worth it. 5/5 stars i will read anything this man writes <3

Mix of funny jokes/stories and sad stories. Interesting snippets of the authors experiences as a doctor in the UK!

I appreciated the warnings about particularly upsetting medical procedures so that you can skip if you’d like. This was a quick and enjoyable read given that it’s a slim book!

I have Kay’s first book, This is going to Hurt, so I’m excited to get a more In depth look at his work experiences and learn more about healthcare in the UK.

i didn’t find this book flowed as quickly as ‘this is going to hurt’, but it was equally as heartbreaking, funny and informative. This festive sequel again makes me feel so appreciative of the things and people i have around me, and make me feel incredibly proud of those i know who are on the front line of our country and sacrifice themselves for our wellbeing! Kay’s writing is truly beautiful!
