I loved this perception of magic and the timelines showcasing what is happening in the present with Ivy and how exactly everything started with her mom in the past. Both Ivy and her mom's point of views were compelling as Ivy tried to figure out what her mom and aunt are hiding and how it all relates to her. Introduce an encounter with a strange girl and a dose of revenge decades in the making, Ivy has little time to unravel the mystery of her mother's past and find out where she and her aunt have disappeared to. Thank you, Edelweiss, for an ARC.

Дочитав і закохався! Відтепер книжки Меліси Альберт це моє істинне guilty pleasure , А Маріон моя майбутня дружина

3.5/5 rounded down read in one day! It’s a beautiful book and I haven’t really been into the witchy-supernatural ya fantasy before so it was a nice taster. I just found myself really preferring the Ivy timeline over the Dana timeline (although this was the main backbone) and the end seemed kind of rushed in a way? It felt like it was over so quickly and easily so I wish there was more impact with that ‘fight’ (Granted Ivy is more powerful but still) also a bunch of the metaphors and similes didnt work for me “like an ice cube down her back” but then there’s also just small things like “hurricane heart” that I loved:)anyway still a great read and I love Billy and Ivy<3

It's SO spooky and atmospheric but also it's a really good examination into friendship, toxic friendships, and the relationships between mothers and daughters.

I really liked this book. I’ve read Hazel Wood years ago and I wanted to try this one! I will say I’m not usually a dual perspectives kinda person but I didn’t mind this as much. I personally preferred Ivy’s POVs however some of Dana’s were really good! I did adore this book but that very final few pages felt like there should have been this big ending, maybe a flash forward scene with Ivy and Dana in the future with the same close mother and daughter relationship they both had when she was little. I don’t know if the ending was set up for another book when she found the journal, however I would have loved to see a little more of that maternal bond the two once shared rekindled at the end if it isn’t. It just felt a little
incomplete there too me. Other than that I adored the book and would recommend it to others!
