More akin to Arthurian Legends than to most Robin Hood ballads, it is still a cheerful collection of stories that bring back a time of innocence and gaiety.

I was a little surprised how enjoyable this book is! Despite being written in old-fashioned English it's readable.
I liked the descriptions of the archery competitions. And I found something new compared to the film and TV directions of Robin Hoods' stories.

Each chapter is framed as an adventure, where Robin meets a new member of his band, and the epilogue ends the story well, though it's a little sad.

I appreciated having the dictionary with me since there's a lot of archaic unfamiliar words used, the dictionary gave clarity which made it more enjoyable.

There are songs written throughout which I didn't like cos I found them annoying to read; without the melody they're awkward. I did my best to think them in a melody 🤷 but maybe having an album alongside would be better 😅
