A lot of the complicated answers are due to the fact this book was a lot of world building.

This book is heavily based on fairy tales (Beauty and the Beast). I didn’t finish this book the first time a read it but this time I was successful. From what I’ve heard from Maas fans this is her worst book, which for the record was a good book. There were some things I thought should be different in the book but still a great read.

The first half of this book was really meh. I really didn’t get into it until the Under the Mountain stuff, but when we got there, I was hooked!

Honestly, this book is full of girlbosses - Amarantha was a beeyotch but gotta admire her hustle. She’s a style icon with her Jurian ring, I want one. And Feyre was a pretty badass main character! Her taste in men is abysmal, but hopefully that turns around in book 2!

I love the fan theory that Feyre’s actually a really terrible painter - made her obsession with painting all the time very funny to me.

I’m completely 100% Team Rhys - his and Feyre’s chemistry is SOOOO much better than hers and lover boy Tam Tams. Thank god though that Tam lost that stupid mask cause I really, really hated it. I constantly was muttering “what a dork” under my breath every time he was on page.

Overall, I’m excited to start book 2! It took me a while to get past the first part of the book but now that I’m in it, IM IN FOR THE LONG HAUL, BABY!
