Love this series!! So so so good! I can't wait to read the next one!

The loss of a star though is due to the sheer number of grammar mistakes and spelling errors. VERY distracting! I get a few, but this book is out of control. Are they there on purpose?

It’s so very rare when a sequel measures up to the first instalment of a series. Mr. Brown you are spectacular. This book was an amazing continuation and I’m SHOCKED at the way the story progressed. To say the ending left me gagged is an understatement……….

4.5 stars.

While I missed the closeness and immediacy of the first book's Institute setting, this book improved upon the first in almost every way. My only major complaint is that
SpoilerDarrow spent half the book thinking I should really do something about Roque, and kept thinking that, all the way up till Roque stabbed him in the back. But he never. Actually. Did. ANYTHING. Until it was too late. Gah!

One thing I appreciate about this book is the evolution away from many of the homophobic insults of the last book. Whether you chalk it up to the characters no longer being teenagers, or the author's growth, it's a relief that not every other word is "pixie." Like, Pierce Brown wasn't fooling anybody with that slur. We know what it means. Additionally, in this book, we begin to see Darrow's emotional walls come down. Experiencing his love for his friends helps the reader love him, in turn. And in this house, we stan deep, emotional male bonding! We love to see it!

There was a lot happening and a lot of new information, and words to learn. I struggled through that, but the story was good.
