Forget cats--this is a book about glorifying the small-town scene.
"Dewey reminded us, once again, that we were a different kind of town. We cared. We valued the small things. We understood life wasn't about quantity but quality."

A touching book about an extraordinary cat and the positive impact he had on the people of a small town facing difficult times, as well as on the life of his librarian "mom." Have tissues handy for the inevitable tears at the end of this lovely tribute.

I bawled on the subway throughout the last chapter. Bawled--like a lunatic. I fell hard for Dewey, the Beef 'n Cheddar gobbling scamp who brings joy to everyone he meets. Cute cat. Cute book. Anyone who loves cats will dig the stories of Dewey's antics and peculiarities. Anyone who doesn't love cats won't make it through the first chapter.
My 12 year old son recommended this book to me, saying "You will love it!". He was correct, I did love it. It is inspirational and heart-warming. If you love cats and you love people, you will likely love this book.
As a cat lover myself, this was a very touching story. I enjoyed reading this, even through all the tears towards the end.
The author describes what it’s like to love an animal and what they mean to people so well, even the small quirks and the things that we let them get away with and why. Many times I found myself wholeheartedly agreeing with some small description and wishing that I could have explained it so well myself.
