I guess I bought in too much to the hype of this book. That and waiting 3 months to get it at the library. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book, cute story, neat cat. I think I just expected more from all I was hearing about it.

This is an adaptation of the adult book about dewey - a library cat in Spenser, Iowa. He was shoved in the return slot on a cold winter night, and the librarians immediately fell in love with him!

I'm not much of a nonfiction reader, but I picked up Dewey because of the cute cat on the front. This book made me laugh, and cry. It was well written, although in some parts it was a bit slow and rambling. A good read for cat lovers!

Yes, I read about the life of a cat.

Whenever you need to remember how much goodness abounds in a harsh world, this totally unexpected book reminds us of the importance of unconditional love, even when, (especially when) it's not easy, and the value of community.

Not as dreadfully sentimental as I feared. It's the story of a strong Iowa woman overcoming adversity as much as the story of a fluffy kitty. Plus, I liked reading about a library that loans out cake pans. I'm really giving it 3 1/2 stars.

A lovely story. I listened to the audiobook, tho, and found the narrator's voice annoying :-(

My grandma gave me this book and I was sooo dubious, even though I work in a library. I'm almost done and its actually pretty cute. Don't bother if you are not an animal-lover, though!

Very sweet. Sometimes tries a little too hard, but overall a really nice story.
