As a librarian, I knew I had to read it as soon as I saw the title. Now that I'm finished, I'm glad I did. Although I was a little put off by the Iowa worship, I can't blame anyone for being proud of their town, region, and state. As for the library cat, having worked in a public library (rather large) and a small library (special/academic), I could really empathize with the issues the author talks about and the feeling that the library is some place special. The author made me care about her, her family, and of course, Dewey, so the ending really made me a bit weepy. Great job!

Cute story, got a little bogged down in parts but still enjoyable overall

Such a fun story!

this was cute, but not mind-blowing. as a librarian with a dearly beloved cat, i mostly wanted to hear about the cat in the library. i liked what myron had to say about the library as community center, especially in troubled times. she speaks often of the iowa farming crisis in the 80s and how her library provided help to those struggling in many different ways- and that speaks to what michigan is going through right now, and how libraries are helping even as our funding gets slashed. oops, tangent.

i hate to say this, but i didn't think vicki told her own life story as well. things kept popping up out of order, and it was just too vague to be interesting. i was much more interested in the cat.

I enjoyed this cat's story more as a kid.

Sweet enough. I'd give it to anyone who likes cats and/or libraries (which is exactly, I'm sure, why a friend gave it to me).
