Loved so many of these short stories. “The Price” which involved a cat desperately fighting evil demons each night to protect his human family, was endearing and touched the heart. “Shoggoth’s Old Peculiar” was a fun read in which a tourist ends up in the strange town of Innsmouth for the night, hobnobbing with peculiar locals at an even more peculiar pub. There are several great tales concerning the end of the world, some interesting prose concerning sexuality, and a fun little tale in which a modern-day elderly woman bargains with Sir Galahad about the holy grail she purchased at a thrift store, now occupying pride of place on her mantle.
This collection contains a wealth of fun stories which cover a wide array of topics. Some lighthearted and humorous, some serious and sensitive, some mildly disturbing, all enjoyable.

What an enjoyable collection of short stories and poems. Some are genius (a werewolf private eye? Yes! Give me more!). Some are just good. Some didn't resonate with me. In a 30 story collection that is bound to happen. If you can handle some NC-17 themes and language (is it just me or did the stories get dirtier the farther along you read?) and are looking for a few goosebumps this October this is a great read.

Gaiman does this thing, where he takes previous well known stories and twists them around to his version. He does that a few times in this book of short stories and every time they come out original and interesting. He has originals in here of course and gaiman never ceases to amaze.

Neil Gaiman's wonderful short story collection, Smoke and Mirrors, is a mesmerizing and tantalizing assortment of gems, lasting just long enough for five minutes of bliss each. Some are clever (We Can Get Them For You Wholesale), some are gut-churning (The White Road), and others are just plain weird (Cold Colors), but all kept me wildly entertained. I eagerly look forward to more from Neil Gaiman (my friend's cousin, might I add).

A book I both loved and hated at the same time. The short stories in this book were very quirky and perverse. My favourites were: Tastings, The Goldfish Pool and other stories and Looking for The Girl. I wasn't a big fan of the poetry, mainly because they left me with empty feelings once I'd finished them. Overall a good book, easy to read short stories, so easy to skip past the ones I couldn't get into.
