These are fun small bites that are easy to gobble up. I enjoyed the assignment of fun, weird, and touching, with a sprinkling of gore and sex. And some wtf-I-think-I'm-too-tired-to-try-to-process-this-oops. Some stories are stronger than others, but for such short tales, some will stay with me forever.
Stories that stood out to me:
- The Wedding Story. Eerie and happy and sad
- Chivalry. Delightful.
- The Price. Good kitty.
- The Goldfish Pond and Other Stories. Feelings.
- Changes.
- We Can Get Them For You Wholesale. I loved the ridiculousness of this one.
- Mouse. Heart breaking and frustrating and real.
- When We Went To See The End Of The World. Yo wtf.
- Snow, Glass, Apples.
- Fifteen Painted Cards from a Vampire Tarot. As a tarot fan, no I'm not biased at all.
- Eaten. what in the flying fk

If you love Neil Gaiman you'll love this collection of short stories and poems written by him. Swaying towards the dark side of things, but each story has their own twist or meaning that makes it worth while. I really enjoyed each story and I'm sure any Gaiman fan will too!

this was better than Trigger Warning and i gave it 5 stars so this one is getting 6.
Un recueil d'histoires effrayantes (celles dans l'univers de Cthulhu sont particulièrement flippantes et pesantes). Gaiman s'adapte bien aux différents styles et univers des thèmes et auteurs qu'il aborde.
Neil Gaiman is a magician!! He is someone who is in full control of the reader's experience. He withholds just enough to make me question my observations/conclusions, even though he's the one feeding me the intel! Can writers gaslight you?
Something about Gaiman's stories seem horror-adjacent, because there is just so much that feels unknown, other, powerful and untamable about his beings (which are sometimes monsters, sometimes god-like, usually both.) He makes the reader feel vulnerable and small because the world and powers above are just beyond our plane.
I could've done without all the graphic sex, but I guess it lends to the horror element sometimes. A few stories were lost on me because of references to outside series I was unfamiliar with... The narrators were all kind of the same person (Maybe a self-insert? Not sure) but overall very masterfully done storytelling. Looking forward to reading one of his longer works in the future.
