Some of these stories were great some of them were okay. The ones that were great made the other ones worth it. Maybe don't read the whole book just pick the stories that interest you.

Vampires, sex, Cthulhu, werewolves, folk tales, and every story has a twist - I loved this book.

A real mixed bag. Some stories were great, like Chivalry and Snow Glass Apples, but others were honestly not enjoyable.

I'm really excited to read more Gaiman, maybe Anansi Boys next since there's a preview in this book. Smoke and Mirrors was so varied and fascinating.

Got halfway through; I'm going to declare this one finished for my purposes. Gaiman is a very good short story writer, but what with his cosigning of Amanda Palmer's ridiculous antics, I'm kind of soured on him right now. And a disturbing number of his protagonists in this collection are creepy, sexist pricks of a particular sort. It gets kind of old. I might revisit it later.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. As usual, Gaiman is inventive and produces some fascinating stories. There's a range of stories: there's poetry, short shorts, long shorts, Cthulhu mythos and werewolves and Snow White. It's definitely worth a read.

Some were good, some were meh.

I don't usually read short stories. I don't usually read anthologies or single-author gatherings of short stories. But, I must admit, I am a Neil Gaiman fanboy, so I had either purchased this, or was given it as a gift. *scratches head* It's been on the shelf for a while.

Switching from his novels or his comics to his short stories was a bit of cold water to the face. Writing in brevity requires a severe modification to one's style, but all of the stories were so entirely Gaiman that there was no doubt.

There was a surprising amount of adult material in the stories, but it was done so naturally that I didn't even notice until those scenes were behind me. It was a matter of "well, of COURSE she would do that in that situation."

The only reason I'm giving four starts instead of five... each story left me wanting more. What can I say, I love novels. :)

I love Gaiman's writing. Some of these spoke to me more than others, but all in all enjoyable.
