Somehow the fact that this book is in verse wasn't apparent to me, and listening to the audio book at 2x speed may have had a hand in that not coming through.
Definitely enjoyable enough, but this came across to me as a slightly "younger" middle grade book. Unlike OCDaniel (which I just wrote a brief review for) this book is almost entirely about the character's Tourette syndrome - I could have used a bit more of a story. But, this book is not FOR me, and I think this would be a excellent gift for young readers in your life.

Fine. Cute and quick. Not tons of character development but the spotlight on touretts syndrome and the alienation one can feel for being different in high school was so real and heartbreaking.
I liked what this tried to do but I can’t get over how awful the mother was, I’m very confused by the authors choice to not have a redemption arc for the mom. The ending was also trash. Considering this is a YA/ middle grade book, more thought should have been put into how this content could be internalized. There also should’ve been an actual explanation of intrusive thoughts. But I do think the feelings of being in middle school were well captured!

Forget Me Not is beautifully written story of fitting in and finding courage. It is a dual point of view story told in both verse (Calliope) and prose (Jinsong). This was my first time reading a story told in both formats and I loved it! The character's voices were distinct and their personalities well developed. Readers of any age will love this book of growth and acceptance. They will also have the ability to learn about a misunderstood disorder and realize how a little knowledge can result in a new friend.
