I want to read this so bad because Rosemary's Baby is one of my favorite movies, but the stuff depicted so far is way too triggering for my particular brand of anxiety.

A delightfully unique horror romp full of heart with characters that, although unlikeable at times, feel so real. I was very appreciative of the way Cassidy handled disability as well as other things like life post-COVID. I think there were definitely moments where the writing faltered and sometimes it felt a bit too on the nose, but I enjoyed how unique the monsters felt and how the story concluded. Overall, it was very fun and interesting and scary!

This was honestly one of the best horror books I’ve picked up in a while. It creeped me out, grossed me out, and also made me think. I loved how the supernatural elements were balanced with the characters just trying to get through everyday life, dealing with both the big tragedies and the small, painful moments.
The only reason it’s not a full 5 stars for me is that some of the author’s commentary felt a bit out of place. It pulled me out of the story, and it was obvious at times that too much of his personal life slipped in. After reading the afterword, I get why, but still think it could have been worked into the story in a less obvious way.
Still, highly recommended if you like horror that’s both unsettling and thoughtful.
