Once upon a time, when I was little, I was in love with all those boarding school stories. And it's quite clear that I'm re-finding that love. I'm pretty sure that my younger self, the child I used to be, would have loved this series even more than I'm doing right now. But, I still enjoy it a lot. Luckily. Because I ordered the entire series already before I read the first book, which is always quite a risk. My luck with book gambles is quite good though, so I didn't really worry.

In the first book we learned a lot about Daisy and Hazel. Who they are, how they came to be friends and most of all their personalities. In this book we don't get those kinda flashbacks anymore, however, this entire book takes place at Daisy's home and we get to really meet her family. Not only that. We also learn that this family might hide some really ugly secrets. After all, what's a detective society without a murder to solve?

And this murder case was so much fun! I really enjoyed watching the girls trying to figure out what had happened, without the right materials and with little to no experience apart from the books they read. What I love most is that somehow they seem to do logical things. It's not being stupid and then just running into the answer. They're really getting clues and acting upon them and although their emotions do get tangled up, they still stay objective.

On top of that, there is so much going on in this family that it's quite thrilling to see everything unfold. There are so many secrets, so many people are hiding things and therefore you can never be sure who the killer is gonna be. It can literally be almost everyone, especially with all the hidden agenda's and all the people acting all secretive. It's not always pretty, but it's interesting and intriguing from start to finish.

I'm already excited about reading the next one!
