Every book I read from Moriarty just keeps getting better. This story had so many intertwined arcs that all met perfectly by the end, with Moriarty weaving the story so well together to provide the perfect stormy ending. With tidbits of the fatal accident threaded at the end of each chapter she slowly reveals who is harmed, with the final page leaving a twist that was just perfection. This is my favourite of her books and I will be eagerly awaiting her next one.

This was a great holiday read. Loved that it was set in my home city. Liked that the 3 siblings in the book parallel a little of the authors siblings - in that they all write. The story line kept me interested and speckled with locations I knew about kept me reading. some of the characters were a little cliched. A book that does read like a midday movie- but that was exactly what I needed. Easily consumed in a day.

An intergenerational family drama. Nicole Moriarty throws us straight into an unfolding multiple car wreck, both figuratively and literally. This book toys with emotions and moral dilemmas, with secrets abound and hidden by the majority if the characters. Not to mention the multitude if themes rolled into this book, including struggling with grief and loss, coping with motherhood, teenage emotions, parenting at all ages, alcoholism and drug use, and the struggles of a large family. We see the drama unfold through the eyes of Jill, Mimi, Andrea and Darren. We watch as time ticks closer to Christmas Eve. We also watch how the car crash unites them in more ways than one. There are a lot of characters to sort through, including how their relationships intersect. This is part of Moriarty's cleverness: you remain on track with each of them. Jill's and Andrea's narratives resonated most with me; as the matriarch of the family, you wonder if she is really coping at all, yet she is surprisingly stronger than her family seems, holding onto secrets that come out inevitably. There was no love lost for Mimi's wine o'clock fetish, could not relate to her at all. The revelations about Tony were shocking yet they did explain a lot about him to those who thought they knew him.You may not know where you are until the end, but the ride is very interesting, indeed.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!

Each character was so well written and had so much depth, which was great, as normally authors focus on one or two and forget the rest.

I started off with this book feeling that it wasn't really a thriller but it definitely turned into one. Brilliant.

This book was fascinating and so hard to put down! There are lots of characters to keep up with as the family drama is told with multiple points of view and a few big twists, but I found this really well done and thoroughly enjoyed the pace of the book too. A great portrayal of family life and certainly an addictive read! I would highly recommend it.
