Forbidden Intent is a steamy, insta-love, age-gap, praise kink, forbidden romance. I liked this book because of the tropes, but it did lean a bit too much into the insta-love trope for me and it put me off the book at the beginning; however, I loved the backgrounds of the characters and how it defined who they were.
The tension and chemistry between Miles and Tasmin was off the charts and the bit of resistance Tasmin had to the relationship showed the trauma her character experienced defined her actions and led to a bit of self-consciousness. I really liked how Miles was dominant, but not pushy when it came to their relationship and he was respectful of Tasmin.
Overall, it was a great book and definitely can be read as a standalone.
Rating: 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

You guys - this book literally sucked me IN. I could not put it down, and it makes me excited to see what couple this little series will follow next. This CAN be read as a standalone - I know, because I did it. I had the opportunity to read this as an ARC from The Smuthood & Cadence Keys.
The tropes we see: rockstar romance, forbidden, age gap, and he falls first. Truly, it had so many sweet moments while covering some very sensitive topics. There is sexual abuse and drug abuse being talked about heavily throughout the entire book that kind of makes it feel a bit heavy. I read the remainder of this on a plane to Phoenix last week and it sat with me for a long while. Even had my jaw dropping at the ending and I just sat there, staring at the seat ahead of me trying to process.
The story? Miles is 28 and is the drummer in an upcoming band. Tamsin is 18, in college to become a publicist within the music industry and her father is one of the biggest producers in Hollywood. She just so happens to be Miles’ new producer’s only daughter. Tamsin was sexually assaulted years before in high school and only her best friend and therapist kind of know the details. She meets Miles and he falls instantly, but tries to stay away for the band’s sake - because come on, it’s their big break!! Tamsin hasn’t gotten close to anyone after her assault and she blames herself for everything that happened - but she learns to trust Miles and it really unfolds into such a beautiful story.

fast-paced
the pacing of the book made the characters and story feel quite flat. everything moved so quickly that by the time they said ily i wasn’t convinced lol.
This book!! It made me fall in love with stand-alone series. I’m so invested in each guys story & how they will all come to find love. This was the perfect mix of forbidden romance & heartmending!! I loved it!!
This book took my breath away in more ways than one. Be warned there are mentions of drug use throughout the book and and overdose towards the end (but not necessarily the one you would expect). There are also mentions of rape and the aftermath of dealing with rape.
Tamsin is my hero and experiencing her battle to open herself up to intimacy after her traumatic past is inspiring.
Miles is my hero and I firmly believe everyone needs a Miles in their life! He’s got such a heart of gold and is Tamsin’s perfect match for helping her work through her past.
The plot twist at the end also took my breath away and I was in no way prepared for how much it would make me feel.
