there were a few of things about this book i enjoyed. the biggest was the ending. this could’ve easily ended up a much lower read for me but i enjoyed the ending quite a bit. i wasn’t expecting the framing that it gave at the end but was happy about it. enjoyed the tie in to the title as well.

the book mainly just fell flat for me. it was a little one note and i understand the repetition but sometimes it made it feel monotonous and confusing and harping to me.

the main character was enjoyable to some degree but was a bit too cinnamon rolls and big boobs and high bun for me. the writing was kinda just okay. there were some pieces that were good but most of it was just a little flat for me. it felt very early writing development wise which makes sense but i could definitely feel it.

also the relationship with ethan and hannah was never well explained in their main timeline and it bothered me. did they keep in touch? didn’t sound like it bc they broke each others hearts so much?? so why is he calling her the first day she’s back and then immediately they are so in love??? no angst. no hard feelings… just!! yea i’m in love with you and i can’t live without you. weird.

i did enjoy henry tho. big fan of that timeline.

Probably my least favorite Taylor Jenkins Reid book, so far. Multiples universes; Sliding Doors-esque.

We see how one decision impacts Hannah’s life as we follow her along two different timelines(?); one where she stays at the bar with her high school boyfriend and the other where she goes home with her best girlfriend and her husband.

Not terribly exciting, but some very romantic parts at the end. THE Gabby 🥰

I really enjoy her writing. It’s just flows over you. The chatacters’ lives become entwined with yours. And this book poses a good question: is the multiverse a reality? Could there be other versions of yourself living in parallel worlds when you said yes instead of no, turned left instead of right, stopped for a breath or pushed through…

Cinnamon rolls are mentioned, quite literally, over 80 times in this relatively short book.

I love TJR, but not this one. The writing was not strong, and I’m aware this is one of her earlier works. It kind of shows. I can see why some love it, but a few things lost me. First, the infidelity was everywhere. Second, the chaos that was the Ethan timeline just didn’t feel real. And last, nurses don’t work everyday and aren’t assigned the same patients everyday. Felt like a pretty basic research oversight. I just couldn’t get past it 😂

An interesting concept I suppose but it was hard for me to understand why the romance between Hannah and Ethan fizzled so easily in the car accident scenario yet overcame the pregnancy in the other. And I guess that Gabby was supposed to end up with Jesse in any scenario. And I was a little sick of hearing about the cinnamon rolls!

Its longer than it needs to be and is very much a white american womans take on suffering, but it still has me wanting to drink a bottle of wine and cry with the misfortunes of the MC.
